As many of you are aware, at the end of August, Henry Schein announced it had acquired Midway Dental. The acquisition provides Midway Dental customers with access to an expanded portfolio of products and a larger distribution network. However, the announcement left Independent Dental Solutions (IDS) members wondering:
“What does this acquisition mean for us?”
First, we want to start by saying that IDS is not going anywhere. Moving forward, just as we did with Midway Dental, we will be partnering with Henry Schein to continue to provide members with access to the supplies, equipment and more. In fact, Henry Schein’s robust product portfolio provides IDS members with even more opportunities to save on supplies.
Below are answers to some of the commonly asked questions about the Henry Schein-Midway Dental acquisition – and how it impacts IDS members.
Q: Was IDS acquired by Henry Schein?
A: No. IDS and Midway Dental are separate entities and IDS was not part of the acquisition. However, we are working with Henry Schein moving forward.
Q: What does the transition mean for IDS members?
A: We have worked with Henry Schein’s team to transfer IDS pricing and benefits automatically, to ensure the transition has minimal to no impact on our members.
Q: Will IDS pricing and shipping terms change?
A: We worked with Henry Schein to match our previous pricing as much as possible, and members will continue to receive free shipping on orders over $500. Plus, we negotiated a discount on other items that did not have a contract in place (or an exact match) to provide all-new savings opportunities too.
Q: How do members place their orders moving forward?
A: Placing orders is simple! IDS members can now place their supplies orders through the Henry Schein website. Members who already had a Henry Schein account can continue to place orders as usual – IDS pricing has already been loaded online and linked to our member’s accounts. If you are a new Henry Schein customer, you can create an account by clicking the “create account” button in the upper left. Then, we will work with the Henry Schein team to link new members to IDS pricing.
